I did my first school visits last Friday at Ephraim, Manti, and Gunnison Elementary. I wasn't nervous, but one lady teacher said I needed to speak louder. Kids from one school asked so many questions about my jumping stilts that they were almost late for lunch.
I want to do more visits.
Bring on the kids! Just keep them out from under my stilts.

How much do you charge for school visits?
ReplyDeleteSo far we've done them for free! It kind of depends on how far away the school is. Gas money would be nice for, say, Outer Mongolia!
ReplyDeleteLuckily, we are a little closer than Mongolia!
ReplyDeleteI teach literature to grades 6,7,8,and 9 at the TLC Academy in Manti. I am trying to get the kids excited about writing. I have been telling them that they don't have to wait until adulthood to begin writing, and I gave you as an example. When one of my students mentioned that he wanted to do his book report on Bone Warriors, I had a flash of inspiration--what if we got the author to come and speak? Perhaps it would light a writing fire in some of the kids.
Would you have any objections to coming to our school? If you do have objections, I understand. We're not exactly the most popular crowd in Manti. :)
